Some days are harder than others

Sunday morning...

Today I woke up early. I was ready to go to church. I couldn't wait to meet with my sisters as we gathered around God's Word. During our time together tears were shed over a prayer request by one of our members. As we gathered around her I was reminded how wonderful it is to have friends, sisters in Christ who will lift you up during the hard times.

After worship our pastor announced that he is retiring at the end of this year. Another hard thing. Questions were flying around our dinner table this afternoon as we talked about what may happen in the life of our church family.  We have difficult days ahead.  BUT, we also have a sovereign God who is more than able to bring us through this.

This week my mother had a fall and while in worship service she was having great difficulty sitting.  My dh and I took her out to the car and I ran back in for the end of our worship service.

Once the service was over and I was getting in the car I began to feel my body going into a sort of shock.  My blood sugar was falling.  I checked it.  Sure enough, it was 67 and continuing to fall.  I had to get my mom home and me home before I began to have even more trouble.

As we were driving away from the church we came up on a car accident.  I decided to make a detour and as I did I saw that someone had hit a biker (not motorcycle).  Several people from the church had already stopped to help so we went on home.

Whew!  What a morning.  But, in between all the hard stuff...there was worship; true worship.  I met with God this morning.  I emptied myself before Him and gave Him a vessel to be filled completely by Himself.

I do not worry about the future...my God is in control.

30 Days of Thankful: Day 9

Today I am so thankful for my FB and Bloggy friends.  I have met some wonderful spiritually mature women in my blogging moments.  It is so exciting to get to know you.  I thank you all for visiting my blog, leaving uplifting comments and just being there.

God is so good to give us friends...even if we never see face-to-face this side of heaven.

Great worship experience today

Today was wonderful and sort of crazy.

My husband is a chaplain.  One of the things that the North American Mission Board asks is that he visit a church once a month.  We have been wanting to do this for a long time but because of our teaching in our own church we have not been able to do that.

So, we have taken the opportunity to take a break from Sunday School teaching so we can visit other churches...as well as some personal reasons.

On Sunday mornings we go and pick up my mother so she can see her friends and worship with them.  Usually my hubby and I seem to be running late in picking her up.  Since this is her only time to see them she likes to arrive early.

Today we got up in plenty of time.  We asked her if she minded arriving at church even earlier than she wanted so we could get to Vinings Lake Church for their worship service.  Well, this time she was not ready.  REBUKE!  But, we got her to church and then zoomed over to VL to worship.  We got there about 20 minutes late but we were able to join in worship through music before Pastor Pete began to preach.

What a wonderful service.  The music was so uplifting and then Pete really spoke to my heart about brokenness.  We need to be broken before God instead of prideful.  He used the parable Jesus told about the "righteous" Pharisee and the "sinful" Tax Collector.

So many good points that I will not write about now.  Maybe after I return from church tonight.

After that service we zoomed back over to Hurt Road Baptist for our own worship service.  Our pastor spoke on God's will.  It was so good.  Perhaps I will share that later as well.

Great day!  And I'm looking forward to tonight.

30 Days of Thankful: Day 8

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Psalm 8:1

I am so thankful that we can worship freely.  Today I am going to the church of one of the pastor's I work with.  I am so looking forward to worshipping with his congregation today.  God is so good that we can go to so many different places and worship with believers.

I have a friend who is a missionary in a country where that is not possible.  The work they do is cultivated through one on one relationships.  I have another friend who has gotten back from the mission field.  She and I work together.  She was able to share more freely.  She was able to go to a church to worship.

All around this world worship of our LORD is different.  But, it is a time when we can come together and bring our entire self to Him in a sacrifice of praise.

Praise Him today!

30 Days of Thankful: Day 7

Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!  Psalm 107:8

God is so good.  He IS goodness.  When He thinks of me He thinks of only what is good for me.  When Jesus paid the price for my sin debt and was then raised from the dead so I would have a life free from the penalty of sin, He brought His goodness inside of me through the Holy Spirit.

Thank You, LORD for your goodness.

Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!  Psalm 34:8

30 Days of Thankful: Day 6

Today I am thankful for godly parents.  My parents brought me up in church and in the love of God shown through their lives.  I am so thankful I was fortunate to meet God because of the parents I had.

Today would have been their 54th anniversary.  But, my dad was wisked away to heaven several years ago.  I like to think he is helping Jesus with mom's mansion.

Today, I am thankful for godly parents.

Knee Problems

Since July I have been having knee problems off and on.  In September it began to get worse.  Saturday the pain was so bad I couldn't walk.  I haven't been able to go to church for the past two Sundays.  I went to the doctor and he gave me a cortisone shot and the pain subsided for 1 day.

Today it was back with a vengeance.  I have a appointment on Wednesday to see the doctor again.  This is so frustrating.  I want to finish my office, I want to be able to sweep my floors and do so good cleaning.  I can't do anything.

Boy, I'm a complainer.  God is so good to me.  He provides for my daily needs.  He has given me a wonderful husband and daughter.  He has given me a great job and super co-workers.

But, I'm asking Him to heal my knee so that I can do the things I love to do.

Nuff said...

30 Days of Thankful: Day 5

Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other, and the LORD listened and heard.  A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the LORD and honored his name.  Malachi 3:16

Today I am so thankful that God not only hears but He listens.  He loves us so much that what He hears is written down in his presence.

When I cry out or praise, or vent...He hears me.  Thank you, Father for your listening ears.

30 Days of Thankful

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

Isn't it wonderful how much God loves us?  His love is agape--in our best interest--and it is unconditional.

Thank You, my FATHER, for Your neverending love.

30 Days of Thankful

Today, I am thankful for my mother.  She is the sweetest lady I know.

Her health is not that great but she always has such an encouraging smile every time I see her.

I thank God that He is allowing me to take care of her.

My wonderful mother and me
I love you Momma!

30 Days of Thankful

I am so thankful for my family.  I have a wonderful husband who loves the LORD more than anyone and loves me second.  He takes such wonderful care of me.  He cannot provide all the luxuries of life but he makes me laugh and feel wanted.  I have a fantastic daughter who loves the LORD and desires to always put Him first.  She loves me "this close to God"--that's something we used to say when she was little.  I was unable to have children myself so God provided me with a man and daughter who needed me.  God is so good. We have been together for almost 18 years...looking forward to what is ahead.

Thank you, FATHER, for my family.

November 1st--I'm Thankful

It was suggested by Jana Lynch on Facebook that we take a few minutes out of every day in November to be thankful.  She calls it 30 Days of Thankful.  I decided to join in.

Already I'm behind in my posting so this will be for Sunday, November 1st.

Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Hebrews 7:25

I am so thankful for salvation.  We are so blessed that God has given us salvation through Jesus Christ.  Thank you, LORD!
