A Voluntary Sacrifice

I have been studying Isaiah 53 for tomorrow's Bible study lesson.

I am forever amazed and what God and His Son did for me.

I love the way we are told that He grew up before Him lie a young plant. While Jesus was growing up on this earth, God was watching Him. I'm sure this is not amazing to you, but it is so neat to me.

I guess I never really thought about it. But, during those years in Nazareth; years we know nothing about, God was watching over Jesus.

As He became a man, people did not recognize Him as the Messiah. His appearance did not tip anyone off.

I can look back on what Jesus did and think how oblivious the people where as He walked through their lives. But, Scripture tells us that His appearance would not give away the fact that He is God's Son, the Messiah.

In Isaiah 53 we are told how He takes on our sicknesses. But, I don't think this is our physical illnesses. Now, don't get me wrong. God is still in the healing business. It's just that in these Scriptures (Isaiah 53) I believe He is talking about spiritual sickness, sin.

Jesus took ALL OUR SINS on Himself. Sometimes my sin is enough to wear you down. But He took the sins past, present, and future on Himself. No wonder He cried out asking why God had forsaken Him. God will not look at sin. And in those moments, Jesus was carrying all sin. WOW!

As we prepare for Easter. Let's think about all God did during this week.

Hi, Sheryl!

It's unfathomable, isn't it? It just seems impossible that there wasn't something about HIm that gave away His true identity. But scripture says it is so.

We just finished our Esther study. You are going to love it!

Hope you are doing well!

This moment in our history of our faith simply overtakes me. His love for us, His sacrifice--words are too small. Blessed Holy Week to you. I can tell you don't take any of it for granted. May we all see with His Eyes this week, with sacrificial love and healing.
Love to you, Sheryl,
Annette
PS Esther was wonderful. Beth has such a way of bringing the Word in love. I'll never forget the session, "And then, what?" Ultimately, "and then, God!"

May the presence of our Jesus be close to you in rich and revealing ways this week as we pilgrim to the cross, yet again! What grace I have known because of that cross. I am forever marked by my Savior's willing sacrifice.
